About Our Winery

Our Story

Cheryl Matheson has always been fascinated by the grace and perseverance of owls. During a 2014 trip to Leelanau with her husband Kirk, a grey owl landed directly above their campsite. The couple had been discussing a wine making business, so they took this as a sign to pursue their dream. Devoted to their children, grandchildren, and their Roseville community, the Matheson’s opened their business in 2017 and named it OWL Wineries. Cheryl Explains, “OWL stands for ‘Our Wine Legacy’ for our family and our community”. The business is family-owned and operated with the help of their nephew Alex Selim and grandson Ian Bass

OWL Wineries is completely Michigan-based, with fruit obtained from our state’s western coast. We do not use grapes in their wine preferring instead to focus on other fruits available from Michigan’s rich soil.

Wines available include cherry, apple, blueberry, and more. All wines are handcrafted, bottled, corked, and labeled on-site. We are located at 28087 Gratiot Avenue In Roseville.
